Internal server error exception breaking SharePoint 2010 Search

So I recently came across this error whilst trying to solve a problem with a customer Search Service.  This produces an error with pretty much all search queries.

Internal server error exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException1[System.ServiceModel.ExceptionDetail]: The network path was not found. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070035) (Fault Detail is equal to An ExceptionDetail, likely created by IncludeExceptionDetailInFaults=true, whose value is: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: The network path was not found. The crucial part of this error message is the part that states:  “The network path was not found.”

When Search is attempting to do a query it heads to one of the servers running the Search Query and Site Settings Service.  If the server it heads to does not have the query component installed then this error is thrown.

The easy fix:  Stop the Search Query and Site Settings Service on all servers not running the Search Service Query Component.
